TK Updates

Posted Date: 8/11/25 (7:44 PM)

Dear Dickson Star TK Families,

We want to thank you for a wonderful first week of school! Your patience, kindness, and support have helped make the start of our school year such a success.

As we move into the next few weeks, we know that the transition into school can bring big emotions—for both students and families. Some days may be filled with smiles and excitement, while others may include tears or moments of uncertainty. This is a completely normal part of adjusting to a new environment. Every child transitions at their own pace, so we encourage everyone to show empathy and understanding if you see a student who is upset. Our staff will welcome them and support their emotions with kindness and reassurance to maintain a positive learning environment.

A quick reminder about photos and videos: You are welcome to capture these special memories of your own child. However, due to privacy laws, please make sure no other students or adults appear in your pictures or videos.

We are also beginning a new arrival and dismissal procedure to help our students practice important skills and ensure safety:
Arrival:

  • Please line up with your child along the black gate, starting at the sign with their teacher’s name.
  • Students should stand along the gate with their family member supporting them in learning to line up and wait patiently.
  • Teachers will welcome students onto campus in order of arrival.
Dismissal:
  • Please line up along the black fence at your child’s teacher’s name sign.
  • Teacher will dismiss students one at a time from those adults standing in line.
  • This allows students to see adults modeling how to stand in line and wait their turn.
  • Following this process will help keep dismissal safe and orderly for everyone.
These new procedures will be new for everyone, so please be patient and kind to each other as well. If there are any concerns you may message your child's teacher, but please avoid private conversations during arrival or dismissal as students will remain our focus.

Helpful Tips:
Tomorrow, Monday, August 11 is TK PE, so please have your child wear appropriate shoes for being active.

TK PE will be on the following Mondays: 8/11, 9/15, 10/13, 11/17, 1/5, 2/23, 3/23, 5/4

Please label (write your child's name) on all items that come to school. (lunch boxes, jackets, water bottles...)

Thank you for partnering with us to help prepare our TK students for success—academically, socially, and emotionally. With your continued support, we know this will be a fantastic year!

Warmly,
Renae McCain
